Thu 22nd September 2016 category - general The new brand will be called ‘Alaria’; a name that represents ‘independence’, ‘confidence’ and ‘inquisitiveness’ and therefore combines bold design and styling with the opportunity to travel wherever you choose in luxurious comfort. Alaria responds to market demand for a new level of luxury in modern touring caravans and comes after the company has seen sales for its existing top end Lunar models increase year-on-year. The company’s best selling twin axle models have inspired the layouts chosen for the new collection. Alaria will provide a fresh approach to external and internal styling as well as a new take on ‘lounging’ that is inspired by the most adopted domestic interior design trends. Says Lunar CEO and Chairman, Brian Mellor, “Alaria sets a new benchmark for luxury caravanning. We’ve included many new features as well as an extensive specification that is in addition to the level of luxury already offered in our top-end models.” Exteriors Each of the new models are four berth twin axles and will sit upon an uprated 2000kg chassis with a fully hydraulic E&P self-leveling system and Al-Ko bigfoot steadies. The battery box will also be prewired for easy retro fit of a caravan motor mover. Making a memorable first impression, the Alaria adopts the new carbon fibre styling on its ‘A’ frame and gas locker introduced for the 2017 Clubman/Delta ranges. This gives it a dominant stance and eye-catching appearance, which is further complemented by striking graphics, blue LED illuminated grab handles and smart new 14” five spoke alloys. The roof is fitted with a 100w Truma solar panel as standard, easing the reliance on batteries and electric hook ups. Interior Finishes Inside, the Alaria really comes into it’s own. All furniture is crafted from ‘Timeo Pine’ with front lockers finished in ‘Dakar’ and ‘Mussel’ and bedroom and back lockers finished in ‘Mussel’, both rich cream shades. Lockers feature contemporary curved silver handles and the flooring is covered in a complementary deep pile carpet. Lounges The biggest design statement of the Alaria range is the removal of the traditional twin single beds in the front lounge in favour of a new ‘L’ shaped sofa. Covered in ‘Stamford’, this domestic style seating arrangement has been optimised for ‘lounging’, offering increased leg room when seated and unlocking floor space to create a lovely open feel in this important day/night area. The introduction of the ‘L’ shaped seating system has allowed designers to move the cocktail cabinet into the lounge area and make more of a feature of it by surrounding it in blue LED strips which can be turned on or off independently of the main lighting system. The space previously occupied by the cabinet has been replaced with a ‘media hub’ containing a 21” Avtex TV/DVD, provided as standard, plus a domestic style ‘pop-up’ bar of power sockets with integrated USB ports. This new location provides optimal viewing pleasure for all occupants of the sofa! Further mood lighting is provided via LED strips along the fascia edging, which offer a choice of red, blue or green illumination and are altered via an intuitive control panel. For the rear lockers, spotlights have been replaced with new LED downlighters with a smart chrome surround. Kitchens All kitchens in the Alaria range have been styled with illuminated splashbacks, new ‘elephant grey’ high impact worktops and complementary new lino flooring. Building on the already high standard of equipment found in Lunar’s Clubman/Delta kitchens, the Alarias feature upgrades including a new glass front and additional oven shelf to the Thetford Aspire 2 42l oven, the inclusion of an extractor hood with integrated lighting as standard and the fridge freezer benefits from Automatic Energy Selection (AES). Washrooms Further evidence of domestic design inspiration can be found in the washrooms. The traditional snake style towel rail has been replaced with a stylish new chrome ladder version and the over sink mirror is back-lit. The 2017 Alaria collection will be on display to the public for the very first time on stand 18-13 at The Motorhome & Caravan Show, at Birmingham NEC from Tuesday 11 to Sunday 16 October.
